"Give us a heart of compassion,
for this world without vision."
Think this verse from the song "Making A Difference" is really meaningful. This world has become a conservative and class-minded society. People look down on each other. People cheat. Steal. Lie. For money and their own comfort. Boohoo.
After many times in JAMS church, I've finally realised what this verse meant. The more I encounter the intellectually disabled, the more I develop a heart filled with compassion. Sometimes I felt that I was going to cry. They are innocent kids, but many in the society shun them. Some even laughing at them or calling them "crazy".
Sometimes I wonder why most people, especially business executives, care so much about their personal lives, money or people in their classes, but often looking down on others. Many times I have been treated like someone lowly (I'm a student btw), all of them business executives. I may discriminate. But isn't that what many people do as well?
But there are still people who have hearts filled with compassion. Thank God. The recent tsunami disaster relief is a good example. Many people volunteer their time and effort to aid in relief teams or other tasks like packing and administration. The public also donated money and supplies. There are still people who are small-minded. Some donated boxing gloves or well-used lingerie. This isn't a junkyard for you to throw your things people!
The world must open their eyes and see what is happening to the less fortunate. Help them. Pray for them. It's the thought in the heart that counts.
